We have an immediate opening for an Accountant in Huntsville AL. This position will oversee the general accounting operations and perform complex accounting tasks, including journal entries, reconciliations, and verifying government contract financial transactions. The accountant will maintain a ledger to ensure the effectiveness and accuracy of all accounting tasks, including transactional processing, financial analysis, and monthly financial statements. Salary based on relevant experience and education.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare financial reports, perform research and analysis, assist in maintaining general ledger, perform account reconciliations, and carry out other accounting duties required.
• Oversee timekeeping systems and processes to ensure accurate recording and allocation of labor costs to government contracts.
• Execute bi-weekly payroll, update payroll system and general ledger, and resolve any payroll issues.
• Generate accurate invoices for government contracts, ensuring compliance with contract terms, billing rates, and regulations.
• Enter vendor invoices and assist in scheduling vendor payments, ensuring accurate account designations and adherence to payment terms.
• Ensure adherence to government contract regulations and internal control procedures and provide support during government audits and reviews.
• Provide financial analysis to support decision-making, identify cost-saving opportunities, and optimize project profitability.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
• 0-3 years' accounting experience, preferably in a government contracting environment.
• Knowledge of government contracting regulations, including FAR, CAS, and DCAA requirements
• Proficiency in Unanet Accounting Software
• Strong Analytical Skills, attention to detail, and ability to conduct effective written and verbal communication.
• Commitment to ethical conduct and integrity in financial reporting, compliance, and business practices, particularly in the context of government contracting.
