Occupational Therapy Assistant

Primary Responsibilities Assist in carrying out treatment plans developed by the supervising Occupational Therapist (OT) for children from infancy through age 18 Provide hands-on, play-based therapy to support functional skills such as fine motor coordination, sensory processing, strength, posture, and activities of daily living Use age-appropriate interventions to engage children in meaningful therapeutic activities Monitor client responses and report observations and progress to the supervising OT Educate families and caregivers on home exercises and routines, under the guidance of the OT Collaborate with OTs and other professionals (e.g., PTs, SLPs, pediatricians) to support holistic care Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including daily session notes, in accordance with established guidelines Follow ethical standards, supervision requirements, and best practices within the scope of a COTA license Qualifications Associate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited programAlabama OT license (or eligibility for licensure) NBCOT Certification Previous experience in pediatric settings is preferred but not required Ability to pass background check, reference check, and drug screening Strong clinical, communication, and organizational skills A patient, energetic, and professional demeanor
