ACCOUNTING MANAGER (with growth potential)
MONTGOMERY, AL
SUMMARY: The Accounting Manager will plan and direct the accounting activities of the company overseeing all accounting operations, payroll management, managing financial reporting, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration required.
• Five years or more of related experience required.
• Certified Public Accountant designation preferred.
• Excellent management and supervisory skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Proficient in accounting preparation software (Sage).
• Proficient in payroll software (ADP).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, particularly Excel.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Provides analysis and review of accounting and financial results.
• Manages the accounting staff and oversees payroll, accounts receivable and payable processes
• Recruits and hires accounting and financial staff and conducts performance evaluations.
• Coordinates training programs for new staff and identifies training needs for current staff.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Establish and maintain internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and financial reporting.
• Oversees preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, financial forecasts, and annual budgets.
• Ensures compliance with generally accepted accounting principals (GAAP) and company financial reporting standards.
• Oversees preparation of monthly and year-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Analyzes financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
• Collaborates with IT and management to drive process improvements and streamline accounting and payroll systems for efficiency.
• Manages accounts payable and expense reporting, including acquiring, verifying, and processing invoices and payments to vendors and employees.
• Coordinates with outside auditors and provides needed information for the annual external audit.
• Presents recommendations to management on short- and long-term financial objectives and policies.
• Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
• Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
• Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
• Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
