ACES/AS At-Risk Student Support Coach
JOB TITLE : At-Risk Student Support Specialist for ACES/AS
QUALIFICATION:
1. Master's degree from an accredited college or university in education, counseling, social work, special education, or a closely related field.
2. Demonstrated, successful experience serving students in alternative education settings.
3. Knowledge of special education processes (IEPs, 504 plans), trauma-informed practices, behavior intervention supports, and community-based youth services.
4. Strong leadership, communication, data-management, and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with staff, families, and community partners.
5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO : Chief Student Services Officer
JOB GOAL : To provide student-centered support in the alternative education setting by addressing academic, behavioral, and social-emotional barriers to learning. The role focuses on improving student outcomes through individualized and group interventions, development and monitoring of student success plans, coordination of transitions, and collaboration with families, staff, and community agencies. By integrating case management, attendance and behavior interventions, postsecondary planning, and program implementation, the position ensures that at-risk students are engaged, supported, and making measurable progress toward graduation and future readiness.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide individualized and group supports addressing academic, behavioral, and social-emotional barriers to learning.
2. Develop student success plans with clear goals, interventions, and progress monitoring and assist students in developing and maintaining graduation and postsecondary plans, with systems for documentation and periodic review.
3. Coordinate transitions for students entering and exiting the alternative program, ensuring continuity of services, credit recovery alignment, and reentry plans to home schools when appropriate.
4. Coordinate with district mental health staff regarding interventions, counseling, and related services;
5. Plan, organize, and implement alternative education programming, special projects, and events tailored to at-risk student needs.
6. Develop and conduct small and large group guidance to Alternative School and ACES students
.
7. Develop and monitor academic success plans for Alternative School and ACES students.
8. Address attendance and truancy through proactive, data-driven interventions.
9. Prepare and deliver informative materials and reports for administrators, staff, students, and families about the Alternative School/ACES program.
10. Serve as a liaison among students, families, teachers, administrators, special education, and other departments to ensure coordinated services and consistent communication.
11. Establish and maintain working relationships with community agencies, employers, and institutions to connect students and families with needed resources.
12. Coordinate procedures for tracking intervention outcomes and use data to guide supports.
13. Collaborate with and support certificated and classified staff engaged in student support services and campus operations.
14. Provide consultation and professional learning to teachers on strategies for supporting students whose academic or behavioral challenges impede learning.
15. Advocate for educational opportunities for all students served by the alternative program.
16. Engage in ongoing professional development relevant to alternative education, student services, and applicable state and federal regulations.
17. Assume other appropriate duties assigned
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve-month (240 day) contract. Salary and work year set according to proper placement on 12 month teacher/counselor salary schedule and school calendar.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy.
SALARY: Appropriate placement on salary schedule.
