Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A full-time Sign Language Interpreter position is available for the 2025/26 school year in a K-12 educational setting located in Huntsville, AL. This contract role involves providing vital communication support for students from kindergarten through 12th grade, ensuring accessibility and inclusion in all classroom and school activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitate effective communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and their peers, teachers, and staff.
• Interpret instructions, lectures, and classroom discussions accurately and impartially.
• Collaborate with educators and support staff to adapt lessons and materials to meet students communication needs.
• Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and contribute insights related to students communication access.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all interpreting duties.

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with certification or relevant credentials.
• Experience interpreting in educational settings, particularly K-12 environments, is preferred.
• Strong understanding of educational terminology and classroom dynamics.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a school community.
• Commitment to supporting the academic and social inclusion of students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
