Bilingual Field Coordinator -- Commercial Construction

Dicapa Group LLC
Huntsville, AL

Job Description

Job Description

Bilingual Field Coordinator

Commercial Interiors and Specialty Construction

Dicapa Specialties is seeking a bilingual Field Coordinator to support multiple active commercial construction projects throughout North Alabama.

This position will work directly with our Production Manager, subcontracted field crews, material suppliers and general-contractor superintendents. The Field Coordinator will help gather information from jobsites, coordinate materials, document changed conditions and keep communication moving between the field and management.

This is a field-based position—not a desk-only role. The right candidate will be comfortable visiting construction sites, communicating with Spanish-speaking crews, using email and smartphone applications, helping move materials when necessary and learning how commercial projects are coordinated.

We are not looking for someone who already knows every part of the job. Dicapa will train the right person in plan reading, material verification, field reporting, change-order documentation and project coordination.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Visit active jobsites and report field progress, manpower, material needs and jobsite concerns.
  • Communicate daily priorities and instructions to Spanish-speaking subcontracted crews.
  • Assist the Production Manager with coordination and follow-up across multiple projects.
  • Help coordinate material orders, deliveries, pickups and receiving.
  • Confirm that requested materials are actually needed and verify what is already onsite.
  • Take photographs and document changed conditions, delays, additional work and material issues.
  • Gather labor hours, material information and supporting documentation for potential change orders.
  • Communicate professionally with GC superintendents, suppliers and project representatives.
  • Track open field issues and follow up until they are resolved.
  • Learn to review construction drawings and identify upcoming material and coordination needs.
  • Prepare basic field reports, emails and project updates.
  • Assist with urgent material deliveries, loading, unloading and trailer hauling when needed.
  • Represent Dicapa professionally and reinforce expectations for communication, accountability, workmanship and respect.

Required Qualifications

  • Fluent in English and Spanish.
  • Some commercial construction or related field experience.
  • Ability to communicate respectfully and clearly with field crews and management.
  • Ability to write a clear basic email or text message in English.
  • Reliable, organized and willing to follow through on assigned responsibilities.
  • Comfortable using a smartphone, email and basic computer applications.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Comfortable driving a pickup truck and willing to learn to pull a trailer if necessary.
  • Willingness to work primarily in the field and travel between jobsites.
  • Willingness to learn, accept feedback and grow into greater responsibility.
  • Ability to take initiative and communicate when something does not look right.

Preferred—but Not Required

  • Experience with drywall, framing, insulation, acoustical ceilings, flooring, tile, paint or other specialty trades.
  • Basic ability to read construction drawings.
  • Experience leading or coordinating construction workers.
  • Experience ordering, receiving or counting construction materials.
  • Experience with Bluebeam, Procore or similar construction applications.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • Experience pulling a trailer or delivering construction materials.

A construction-management degree is not required. We value field experience, communication, reliability, judgment and willingness to learn.

What Success Looks Like

During the first several months, the Field Coordinator will learn to:

  • Verify material requests before orders are placed.
  • Recognize and document additional or changed work.
  • Keep the Production Manager informed about field conditions.
  • Communicate effectively between English-speaking project teams and Spanish-speaking crews.
  • Anticipate basic material and coordination problems.
  • Take ownership of assigned issues and follow them through to completion.

This position offers the opportunity to grow into greater field-management, superintendent or project-management responsibilities as the company expands.

Position Expectations

This is a full-time, salaried field position. Construction schedules vary, and early mornings, extended days and occasional evening or weekend coordination may be required.

The employee will travel regularly between projects throughout Huntsville and North Alabama. A company vehicle or approved vehicle arrangement may be provided based on the selected candidate and position requirements.

Compensation

Salary range: $45,000–$55,000 annually, based on experience and demonstrated capabilities.

Benefits

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama health insurance, with Dicapa paying 50% of the employee premium
  • Dental and vision insurance available
  • 401(k) plan available
  • One week of paid time off during the first year
  • Two weeks of paid time off after the first year
  • Three paid sick days annually
  • Paid holidays:
    • New Year’s Day
    • Memorial Day
    • Independence Day
    • Labor Day
    • Thanksgiving Day
    • Friday after Thanksgiving
    • Christmas Eve
    • Christmas Day
  • Company vehicle for business use or mileage reimbursement, depending on the final arrangement
  • Company-provided phone
  • Paid job-related training and certifications
  • Opportunity for advancement into field management, superintendent or project-management roles
