Project Engineer Assistant - Data Center (Electrical)

Reports to: Project Engineer / PM
Type: Full-time, on-site

Summary
Help our team deliver a Tier‑3 data center. You'll keep drawings, submittals, schedule, and field coordination organized-with a strong focus on electrical scope.

What You'll Do

• Run submittals/RFIs and keep the latest drawings and redlines organized.

• Build simple Gantt timelines (MS Project or Smartsheet) and update 3‑week look‑aheads.

• Track electrical gear: switchgear, transformers, panels, feeders, conduit, and terminations.

• Do basic take‑offs (conduit, wire, devices) and keep a procurement log current.

• Walk the job, log progress photos, and close punch‑list items.

• Support testing/commissioning checklists (meggers, continuity, point‑to‑point).

• Write short weekly updates with risks, dates, and next steps.

Must‑Haves

• 1-3 years in construction/engineering support (or strong internship).

• Comfortable with electrical one-lines, panel schedules, and plan reading.

• Can build a clean Gantt with dependencies and show critical path.

• Tools: Bluebeam, Excel, basic AutoCAD; solid file organization.

• Clear written notes; follows through and "closes the loop."

• Basic safety awareness (LOTO fundamentals, NFPA 70/70E awareness).

Nice to Have

• Data center or industrial experience; TIA‑942 / UL / NRTL exposure.

• Smartsheet or MS Project reports; simple SPI/SV variance tracking.

• Vendor expediting and quote comparisons.

• Familiarity with ETAP/SKM outputs (reading, not running).

Schedule & Work Hours

• Mon-Fri, 7:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. (flex during inspections/commissioning).
