What you will be doing:
- Inexperienced benchmen start by learning to work safely in the saw production environment
- Operate alternately more than one type of machine or tool such as hammers (up to 10 lbs.), stretcher rolls, plate leveling machines, gauge grinders and hammer grinders etc.
- Set-up and operate all available machine tools
- Perform progressive operations on work involving close tolerances or unusual requirements
- Skillfully uses hand tools and measuring instruments
- Perform complex operations in support of production operations under limited supervision
- Additional duties as assigned
What we are looking for:
- Mechanical aptitude
- Ability to accurately use hammer, level, gauges, micrometers and calipers
- 2+ years manufacturing production experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
- Vocational trade school or equivalent program a plus
- Familiarity with working properties of various materials to match customer requirements
- Demonstrated lean techniques and ability to meet TAKT times
- Ability to work as part of a team, with behavior that upholds company values and standards
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Promote safety in the workplace and adhere to the safety standards of the company
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs. frequently. Ability to stand at a minimum of 8 hours per shift
- Ability to work overtime when needed
