Project Engineer
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution
- Lead project initiation, including gathering information, developing concepts, obtaining vendor quotes, preparing budgets, and creating work packs and schedules.
- Ensure project readiness by coordinating materials, vendor mobilization, logistics, and permit status.
- Work with onboard planners and BP schedulers to integrate project activities into the rig schedule and optimize execution timing.
- Monitor project progress, costs, and schedule impacts, adjusting plans as needed.
Stakeholder & Engineering Coordination
- Act as a primary offshore liaison between BP Wells, Valaris, and BP Production to support clear communication and coordinated project delivery.
- Provide accurate field measurements, surveys, and rig condition information to support onshore engineering and decision-making.
- Collaborate with Valaris Engineering and external engineering teams to review design requirements, answer technical inquiries, and support constructability.
Field Oversight & Contractor Management
- Oversee offshore execution of assigned projects, including coordination of 3rd-party contractors and verification of equipment and material readiness.
- Support deck logistics, staging, and safe jobsite preparation in alignment with rig operations and standards.
- Ensure all work complies with Valaris and client safety, quality, and operational requirements.
Operational Adaptability & Opportunity Work
- Plan and adjust work to safely navigate SIMOPS, weather delays, production restrictions, and other operational constraints.
- Maintain small-scale opportunity work to maximize productivity and minimize NPT during unplanned schedule changes.
- Apply creative problem-solving to identify execution windows and overcome constraints in dynamic offshore environments.
Permitting & Compliance
- Coordinate with the AA to ensure permits are prepared and authorized prior to project start.
- Ensure all project activities adhere to relevant policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a project engineer or equivalent project coordination role
- HUET, TWIC, and RigPass certifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with rig leadership, engineering teams, client representatives, and 3rd-party vendors
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and climb stairs/ladders in an offshore environment
Preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Project
- Offshore or marine project execution experience
- Experience supporting SIMOPS or multi-discipline project environments
