QA Inspector
ATSS has a client in Mobile, AL looking for a QA inspector.
Work Hours:
Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with overtime and weekend work as needed.
Pay Rate:
DOE and interview. The pay will fall within a range of: $24.00 – $29.00.Conducts in-process and final inspections to verify compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and applicable standards. Operates under the general supervision of the Quality Assurance Manager.
Essential job duties include:
· Performs inspections and/or tests on fabricated, assembled, welded, or manufactured components to ensure adherence to quality standards. Documents inspection results and test outcomes. Approves or rejects materials and assemblies based on design specifications and authorized deviations.
· Maintains accurate and organized records related to product inspections and quality control activities.
· Ensures material traceability in accordance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
· Confirms proper identification and traceability of all finished goods within the yard.
· Understands and applies Quality Management System (QMS) protocols.
· This description outlines general responsibilities; additional related duties may be assigned as needed.
· Maintains reliable and punctual attendance, adhering to assigned work schedules and promptly notifying supervisors of any absences or delays.
HSEQ Roles and Responsibilities include the following:
· Take an active role in compliance with HSEQ Management System.
· Actively participates in the HSEQ Meetings, Job Safety & Environmental Analysis (JSEAs), Work Observations, and Hazard Recognitions processes.
· May assist supervisor in carrying out equipment HSEQ inspections.
· Must report all incidents, including Near Miss incidents, to the Supervisor immediately.
· Maintain all safety training.
· Must abide by any/all local, state, and federal regulations and to company policy.
· Support and participate in the organization’s Continual Improvement Program to conform to ISO 9001:2015 requirements by complying with the HSEQ Policy and procedures and meeting HSEQ objectives.
· Understand the implications of not conforming to the HSEQ Management System requirements and not fulfilling the organization’s compliance obligations.
· Understand appropriate actions to remove themselves from work situations that they consider present an imminent and serious danger to their life or health, as well as the arrangements for protecting them from undue consequences for doing so.
1.0 EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
· High school diploma or equivalent, supplemented by coursework in drafting, applied mathematics, industrial technology, or mechanical/production engineering.
· Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a QA/QC inspector, craftsman, or supervisor in ship repair, shipyard, or drydock operations.
· Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
2.0 KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily demonstrate the following:
· Proficient in interpreting detail and assembly drawings used in manufacturing.
· Familiar with applicable codes, standards, and regulations relevant to assigned manufacturing areas.
· Skilled in using inspection tools, gauges, measuring devices, and test equipment.
· Capable of maintaining accurate inspection records and documentation.
· Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate with supervisors, managers, and customer QA personnel.
· Knowledgeable in shipyard terminology and marine systems.
· Hands-on experience with marine engine components, deck machinery, pumps, valves, electrical systems, instrumentation, and structural steel fabrication.
· Strong understanding of welding processes including SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, and SAW.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficient in report writing and computer applications.
· Familiar with ISO Quality Management Systems and internal audit procedures.
· Exposure to safety and environmental management systems
· Collaborates effectively with cross-functional teams and adapts to changing priorities and work assignments as needed.
· Promotes a proactive safety culture by identifying risks and suggesting improvements to work practices and procedures.
· Demonstrates a commitment to professional development and staying current with industry standards and best practices.
