Accounts Payable Specialist

Description We are looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team on a contract basis in Homewood, Illinois. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong organizational skills to manage high volumes of supplier invoices and ensure efficient payment processes. Responsibilities: - Accurately enter supplier invoices into the company's accounting system while maintaining a high level of efficiency. - Investigate and resolve purchase order variances, including item, price, and quantity discrepancies. - Develop and maintain strong working relationships with Purchasing and Operations teams to streamline processes. - Communicate effectively with suppliers regarding invoices, statements, and payment inquiries. - Manage vendor accounts and ensure timely processing of invoices to meet payment deadlines. - Assist with the automated document management system and support special projects when needed. - Organize and prioritize workload to handle high volumes of invoices, approximately 300-400 daily. - Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures. - Investigate discrepancies in workflow and implement solutions to ensure accuracy. - Maintain proper documentation and organize records for audits and reporting purposes. The salary range for this position is $23 to $24/hr. Benefits available to contract/temporary professionals, include medical, vision, dental, and life and disability insurance. Requirements - High school diploma or equivalent; 3-5 years of Accounts Payable experience or a combination of education and relevant work experience. - Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting is preferred but not required. - Proficiency in accounting principles and practices. - Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry tasks. - Ability to manage a high volume of invoices and prioritize tasks effectively. - Strong typing skills with speed and precision. - Experience with Epicor or similar accounting software. - Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant computer applications.
