Scale Operator
- Weighing Vehicles and Materials: Operates the scale to weigh incoming and outgoing trucks loaded with scrap metal, trash, or recyclables.
- Recording Weights and Data: Logs weight readings, vehicle information, and material types into the computer system.
- Issuing Tickets or Receipts: Provides drivers with documentation showing the weight and value of their load, which is used for payment or inventory tracking.
- Inspecting Loads: May visually inspect materials to verify type, quality, or compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Customer Interaction: Greets drivers, explains procedures, and answers questions about pricing or policies.
- Data Entry and Reporting: Inputs data into software systems for inventory management, billing, and regulatory compliance.
- Maintaining Records: Keeps organized records of all transactions for auditing and operational purposes.
- Attention to Detail: Ensures accurate weight readings and documentation.
- Basic Math and Computer Skills: Calculates totals, enters data, and uses specialized software.
- Communication: Coordinates with yard workers, drivers, and management.
