Job Summary
The Logistics Technician will work as part of the logistics team to maintain high standards of safety, timeliness, quality, accuracy, security, and productivity. This role is responsible for receiving and transferring shipments, managing inventory, packaging and palletizing products, and supporting shipping and warehouse operations while consistently delivering excellent customer service and working independently on multiple tasks.
Job Description
- Promote a "Do It Safe, Do It Right the First Time" culture through daily actions and communication
- Observe work areas to identify, avoid, and report unsafe behaviors, conditions, and other potential hazards
- Report any observed hazards to the supervisor
- Strictly adhere to all safety policies, including but not limited to HAZWOPER, Electronic Communications Policy (ECP), and LOTO policies
- Participate in monthly safety meetings and promote a safe work environment and more efficient
- Perform assigned tasks to meet the team's day-to-day productivity goals
- Follow all work processes and work instructions relevant to specific assignments
- Prepare cylinders for shipment (removing old labels, painting, inspecting/checking, wrapping valve labeling with appropriate information per company and D.O.T. requirements, barcode scanning, loading on pallets, etc.)
- Perform shipping- and receiving-related ERP transactions
- Ensure the accuracy of all ERP transactions to maintain accurate data for operational efficiency
- Prepare shipping paperwork according to company policy and D.O.T. regulations
- Contact common carriers and company locations to coordinate the delivery and pickup of cylinders and other materials
- Ship, receive, and deliver supplies, materials, and equipment
- Operate a forklift to load and unload carrier trucks
- Load and unload sea containers, including appropriate blocking and bracing, in accordance with IMO, IMDG, and Customs requirements
- Maintain inventory control records
- Conduct inventory cycle counts
- Escalate any potential safety or quality concerns
- Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area
- Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse
- Comply with all company safety policies and OSHA and MSDS standards
- Complete all assigned training
Skills Required
- Minimum 3 years of experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse, logistics, or inventory operations
- Experience with ERP systems and inventory management
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and Google Workspace
- Experience filing IMO, AES, and ISF documentation
- Knowledge of 49 CFR, 15 CFR, DOT, IATA, and IMDG regulations
- Must be certified to operate a forklift
- Strong customer service orientation
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to follow all work instructions and safety protocols
- Ability to understand the properties and hazards associated with chemicals and compressed gases
- Must be a quick learner with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, maintain focus, and adapt to a variety of challenges
- Must be organized, with strong attention to detail and the ability to follow directions to meet deadlines
- Must have good written and verbal communication skills and be capable of regular interaction with all support departments
Education/Training/Certifications
- High School Diploma or GED
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to pass a drug screen & criminal background check
- Current forklift certification
- Schedule:
- Full-time, 8-hour first shift, with occasionally modified first-shift hours to support late afternoon shipments
- Must be willing to work overtime as needed
- Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout a warehouse for 8+ hours.
- Frequently lift and move up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to climb ladders and perform repetitive tasks.
- Ability to wear a full-face respirator and pass required medical and fit testing.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment while maintaining a strong focus on safety
Pay Rate/Salary
- $25.00/hr . Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location
