Interior Designer

hendon + huckestein architects, PC is seeking Interior Designers and Interior Design Project Managers with approximately 3 – 8 years experience. Our firm, located on historic Morris Avenue in Birmingham, is a close-knit team of creatively-talented and technically-skilled professionals who dedicate to each project the full influence of our collective experience and insight. • Have at a minimum a professional degree in Interior Design from an accredited university and 3 to 8 years’ experience working in established architectural/interior design firms. Licensure in US is preferred, but not a requirement.

• Be a highly self-motivated individual possessing a high degree of professionalism, dedication, passion for design, desire to continually learn and strong work ethic.

• Have a solid work history including experience in design, construction documentation, consultant coordination and construction administration of public, commercial, healthcare. multi-family and food service projects.

• Be proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Microsoft Office programs, as well as familiar with Adobe Creative Suite. Strong visual presentation skills and communication skills are required.

• Have a strong background in designing building interiors to meet building and zoning codes and other state and/or regional codes and ordinances.

• Have a well-developed understanding of interior Construction Documents and the ability to review and correct errors in documents with minimal supervision.

• Be comfortable with creating design and construction documents for a variety of project types.

• Have a passion for creative design solutions and problem solving.

• Have the ability to interact professionally with clients, handle consultant coordination, and interface with contractors for design intent follow through.

• Have experience in the permitting and bid processes.

• Enjoy working independently and in a team setting, and be excited to share knowledge and ideas with others, and to help others improve their own skills and expertise.

• Work quickly, effectively and within project timelines as either a design team member or project manager.

• These are salaried positions which require a minimum of 40-hours per week.

• Compensation is based on the experience level and abilities of the candidate.
