Intern - Chemistry

- Duration : 11 weeks, full-time
- *Dates of Internship: *June 1, 2026 - August 14, 2026
- Location : Birmingham, AL
- Compensation : Paid internship; relocation assistance available for qualified candidates
- Eligibility : Preferred candidates are rising juniors and seniors (Dec 2026 through June 2028 graduation) who are currently enrolled in a relevant degree program; however, all current students pursuing related studies are encouraged to apply
- Schedule : Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm
- Receive and sort clinical lab specimens
- Prepare specimens for testing and analysis
- Scan and/or data entry of specimen and patient information
- Ensure all lab equipment is working properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance
- Troubleshoot any specimen related issues
- Replenish test bench supplies as needed
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested
- Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards
- Develop, complete, and present a Process Improvement Project
- Be working toward a Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or a non-traditional Bachelor's degree that meets local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Show initiative and the ability to work independently under general supervision
- Have a genuine interest in pursuing a career as a Laboratory Technologist
- Be able to lift and rotate up to 30 pounds regularly
