Job Title: Quality Inspector – Electronics Manufacturing

Job Description

This role focuses on ensuring the highest quality standards for electronic assemblies used in critical military and defense applications. You will inspect and verify printed circuit boards and electronic components, enforce quality management procedures, and support production teams to ensure that all products meet stringent industry and customer specifications, including Class 3 and aerospace standards.

Responsibilities

  • Enforce Quality Management procedures throughout the manufacturing area to ensure consistent adherence to established standards.
  • Perform incoming inspection of materials, components, and assemblies to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Verify surface mount technology (SMT) line machine setup to ensure correct configuration before production runs.
  • Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) of assembled products, including completion of FAI documentation in accordance with AS9100 procedures.
  • Inspect printed circuit boards and electronic assemblies against IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Document defects and nonconformances accurately and convert inspection data into usable formats for analysis and reporting.
  • Perform final inspection of all outgoing hardware to confirm that products meet all quality and contractual requirements.
  • Prepare and write quality assurance reports as required by leadership.
  • Apply minor statistical calculations to support quality analysis and decision-making.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with company policies and industry standards.
  • Communicate inspection results and quality concerns clearly to production, engineering, and management teams.
  • Follow verbal and written instructions accurately and complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Perform other quality-related duties as assigned by supervision or management to support overall production and compliance goals.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum 5 years of Quality Assurance or Quality Control experience in a related electronics manufacturing field.
  • Strong knowledge of IPC-A-610 requirements for electronic assemblies.
  • Knowledge of J-STD-001 soldering standards, including Space Addendum requirements.
  • Experience with electronic assembly and inspection of printed circuit boards (PCB) and active PC boards.
  • Ability to read and interpret customer drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
  • Experience with quality inspection processes, including incoming, in-process, first article, and final inspection.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 procedures and documentation for aerospace and defense products.
  • Ability to identify electronic components and understand component polarity.
  • Proficiency in producing clear written reports and quality documentation.
  • Ability to perform minor statistical calculations to support quality analysis.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in inspection and documentation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Capability to work independently with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds over short distances.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with SMT processes and SMT line setup verification.
  • Experience with electronic testing and inspection of SMT and through-hole assemblies.
  • Familiarity with IPC-610, IPC-A-610, IPC-620, and J-STD-001 standards.
  • Experience in quality assurance, quality control, or quality inspection in electronics manufacturing.
  • Experience working under AS9100 quality management systems for aerospace and defense.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, mission-critical production environment.

Work Environment

The role is based in an electronics manufacturing environment focused on printed circuit boards and assemblies for defense-related applications. You will work around SMT lines, electronic test equipment, and inspection stations, performing detailed visual and mechanical inspections of small components and assemblies. The position follows a 4/10 schedule, Monday through Thursday, providing a structured and predictable workweek. The facility emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and safety, and you will be expected to help maintain a clean and safe work area while handling components and hardware in a production setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Madison, AL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.50/hr.
