Director - Digital Health Operations
Position Overview
Pay range: $104,045 - $169,075 / year

To provide strategic, operational, and financial leadership for the organization’s digital health (telehealth and virtual care) programs. To plan, implement, evaluate, and scale strategic initiatives and digital health services across clinical, ambulatory, acute, post-acute, and remote care settings including the patient’s home. To work collaboratively with key stakeholders located at UAB Medicine and outreat sites such as faculty, physicians, medical staff office, IT, compliance, revenue cycle, hospital and ambulatory leadership and directors to ensure digital health services are high-quality, patient-centered, compliant, and financially sustainable. To coordinate closely with the Chief Medical Information and Digital Health Officer, Digital Health Outcomes and Research leadership, and Director-Digital Health Nursing Services & Network Development on digital health initiatives.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Provides leadership for the operational direction, growth, and financial performance of digital health services and activities for assigned area(s) of responsibility. Facilitates and executes digital health strategy aligned with organizational goals, access initiatives, and population health priorities. May coordinate and supervise project management initiatives for leadership; administering best practice research and consultation for key initiatives.
- Leads development and management of operational and capital budgets for telehealth programs; identifies opportunities for cost containment and operational efficiencies.
- Oversees workflows, staffing models, scheduling, and performance metrics to ensure efficient and effective digital health delivery.
- Partners with clinical, IT, compliance, legal, and revenue cycle teams to ensure digital health services meet regulatory, licensure, privacy, and reimbursement requirements.
- Directs all human resources functions including, but not limited to, staff selection, disciplinary counseling and evaluation. Provides for professional and staff development, and workforce planning.
- Monitors quality, patient experience, access, and clinical outcomes related to telehealth services; implements improvement initiatives as needed.Collaborates with appropriate internal stakeholders to address quality issues and customer service challenges. Ensures area(s) of responsibility are maintained in accordance with all regulatory and UAB Medicine standards.
- Maintains and reports on digital health utilization, quality, access, and financial performance.
- Evaluates and supports digital health technology platforms, vendor relationships, and innovation opportunities in collaboration with IT and digital health partners.
- Acts as representative for the department in all administrative matters as directed including, but not limited to, hospital committees and other liaison roles. May manage leadership meetings including, but not limited to, facilitating collaborative preparation, organization objectives noting action items and supporting initiatives as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or Healthcare related field and seven (7) years related experience or Master's degree and five (5) years related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement
Supervisory Responsibilities
Approximately four (4) to ten (10) direct reports.
Budget Responsibilities
Management of funds WITHOUT signatory authority and/or WITHOUT authority to give budget approval.
