Vocational Line-Portfolios at ROI

OBJECTIVE:

To assist in completion of the orders by removing contents from bag, placing in appropriate place within the portfolio then returning the contents to bag, sealing and repacking into shipping containers ensuring all items are enclosed.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

1. Reports to: Vocational Director

2. Directs: Trainees on assembly line.

3. Other: Works closely with ROI System Coordinator, ROI Quality Control Coordinator, Vocational Order Pulling Clerk and other Line Feeder.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

Consults with ROI Quality Control Coordinator, working with one shipping container at a time, removes all kits, places contents into appropriate place within portfolio, returns contents to bag and seals. Then places completed shipping containers onto pallet for staging.

EXAMPLES OF WORK:

Prepares for the daily build by pulling prepped portfolios, cutting open boxes and staging nearby work table. Completes packaging of all kits, palletizes completed shipping containers and removes them to shipping staging area. Cleans work area and preps for next day.

Responsible for the following activities :

1. Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills and maintains positive working relationships with community contract agents, trainees, co-workers and supervisors.

1. Pulls prepped boxes of portfolios, cuts open boxes and stages near work table.

1. Empties one shipping container per at a time, noting new orders label number and time started in notebook.

1. Removes books from bag, placing them inside the portfolio. Returns contents to the bag verifying all parts then seals the bag.

1. Completed kits are packed into shipping container and container is placed on a pallet.

1. Places completed pallets in shipping staging area and prepares are for the next day’s business.

1. Maintains the daily cleanliness of the vocational building; specifically the back work floor, assisting with breaking down cardboard and sweeping.

1. Reports any non-compliance to Vocational Director in a timely manner.

1. Attends vocational staff meetings, in-service training, and general ROI staff meetings.

1. Complies with all rules and regulations required by the licensing agencies regarding employing disabled persons.

1. Adheres to work schedule (e.g., is not too frequently absent, tardy, or leaves early)

1. Performs such other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Physical ability to bend, stoop and occasionally lift in excess of fifty (50) pounds. Ability to become certified to operate tow motor. Demonstrated competence Excellent skills in working with developmentally disabled individuals; Sensitive to the emotional needs of others; ability to organize work duties and to be able to establish Christian work environment; able to solve problems and to handle emergencies.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

At least three years work experience working in maintenance, repair, selling or production. Minimum of high school experience required; strong desire and ability to acquire techniques and principles specific to working with and training adults with developmental disabilities.

Two years of college may be substituted for one-year work experience.

Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

In all aspects of this position, the highest Christian and professional standards will be utilized.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:

• Valid Alabama Drivers License – with a clean driving record
• Criminal history checks as may be required by licensing agencies and Rainbow Omega, Inc.
