**Description** PeaceHealth is seeking a **Supervisor Pharmacy Services for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Variable position.** The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $79.95 - $119.93. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc. **Job Summary** Under the direction of the Director of Pharmacy Services or designee, this position provides operational oversight for the assigned department and is responsible for effective and collaborative leadership for assigned pharmacy staff. Responsible for monitoring the overall services, developing quality and performance indicators, gathering data for analysis as well as ensuring continuous improvement to optimize services and stewardship of resources. Staffing and scheduling.This position is responsible for performing all necessary functions to ensure optimal use of medications to achieve specific outcomes that improve a patient's quality of life. Functions included in providing compassionate pharmaceutical care are both cognitive and medication distribution related and include: dispensing and distributing drugs; advising physicians and patients regarding proper usage of prescribed drugs; collaboration with other healthcare professional to plan, monitor, review and evaluate patient effectiveness; monitoring patients for side effects and drug interactions. **Essential Functions** + Links mission into day-to-day work, focuses on meeting organization/departmental targets, monitors budget variances and recommends or develops plans for improvement, assures regulatory compliance. + Recommends selection of staff, monitors and evaluates performance and accountability of staff. Evaluates competence and initiates performance improvement plans to develop staff, provides meaningful and constructive feedback + Works with leadership to assist in the development of policies, procedures, and enhancements to the delivery of services, and operations of the department. + Supervises departmental staff on assigned campus including assisting Pharmacy Director with performance evaluation, performance management, and corrective action. + Assigns work; plans and manages priorities, provides technical assistance, monitors quality of work, monitors team projects, mentors staff, provides constructive feedback, oversees staff training, ensures quality improvement, provides leadership feedback on staff performance and assists with goal setting for the team. + Works under the direction of the Pharmacy Operations Manager, Pharmacy Clinical Manager, and Director of Pharmacy Services to establish best practice in area assigned + May take responsibility for Pharmacist in Charge requirements of the applicable State Board of Pharmacy for assigned campus. May assume power of attorney responsibilities for controlled substance procurement for assigned campus. + Provides leadership and supervisory guidance in quality improvement efforts. May be asked to lead quality initiatives. + Participates and elicits participation of the assigned department in development of drug protocols and clinical pathways. May participate in development of drug protocols and clinical pathways. + Monitors all patients on specified target drugs and initiates pharmacokinetic dosing protocols. + Interprets, clarifies, and rectifies physician medication and IV orders, including the medication reconciliation process. Selects medications for dispensing. Evaluates drug therapy for appropriateness and makes drug therapy recommendations to clinician + Prescribes drug therapy per collaborative drug therapy management agreements/Medical Executive Committee approved protocols. + Detects, monitors and reports adverse drug events and medication errors (EIR). + Supervises and trains pharmacy staff, interns, and externs on assigned campus. May serve as preceptor for the intern or extern as defined by the State Board of Pharmacy. + May perform drug usage evaluations on selected drugs and reports results to the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee. + Performs other duties as assigned. **Qualifications** **Education** + Bachelor of Science Required: Pharmacy from an accredited school of Pharmacy or + Doctor of Pharmacy Required: from an accredited school of Pharmacy **Experience** + Minimum of 3 years Required: as pharmacist in hospital setting or + Minimum of 1 year Required: experience as a pharmacist in addition to at least two years' experience as a pharmacy technician in hospital setting and + Preferred: Previous leadership experience **Credentials** + Required: Multi-State Registered Pharmacist **Skills** + Basic computer and keyboarding skills including MS Office applications (Required) + Ability to identify medications and to read graduation marks on syringes and flasks (Required) + Strong mathematical and analytical skills. (Required) + Strong planning, prioritizing and organizational skills. (Required) + Ability to think and act independently. (Required) + Demonstrated advanced pharmacy skills and capable of training all associated area assignments. (Required) + Demonstrated customer services skills. (Required) + Demonstrates an understanding of team development including constructive feedback (Required) + Excellent communication skills both verbal and written. (Required) + Strong conflict resolution skills with ability to give and receive as well as appropriately act on feedback. (Required) + Ability to maintain impartiality in application of requirements, rules, and policy. (Required) **Working Conditions** **_Lifting_** + Consistently operates computer and other office equipment. + Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. + Sedentary work. **_Environmental Conditions_** + Predominantly operates in an office environment. + Some time spent on site in medical/hospital setting. **_Mental/Visual_** + Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information. + The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
