About the Role:
As a Dental Hygienist, you will play a critical role in promoting oral health and preventing dental diseases for patients of all ages. Your primary focus will be to provide professional dental care, including cleaning teeth, applying preventive materials, and assisting dentists during procedures. You will educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and the importance of maintaining dental health to prevent future issues. Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program.
- Current state licensure to practice as a Dental Hygienist in the United States.
- Certification in local anesthesia administration as required by state regulations.
- Strong knowledge of dental anatomy, pathology, and preventive care techniques.
- Demonstrated proficiency in manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in pediatric dentistry or with diverse patient populations.
- Additional certifications in teeth whitening or advanced dental assisting techniques.
- Continuing education in the latest dental hygiene technologies and best practices.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and dental practice management software.
- Strong communication skills for effective patient education and team collaboration.
Responsibilities:
- Perform thorough dental cleanings and examinations to remove plaque, tartar, and stains from teeth.
- Administer local anesthesia and apply preventive treatments such as fluoride and sealants as needed.
- Assist dentists during various dental procedures, ensuring efficient workflow and patient comfort.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, dietary choices, and post-treatment care to maintain dental health.
- Maintain accurate patient records, including treatment plans, progress notes, and medical histories.
- Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and maintain a clean, safe clinical environment.
- Provide specialized care and education tailored to pediatric patients and other specific populations.
