Structural Analyst

Qualis LLC is seeking an experienced Structural Analyst, in this role, you’ll provide insight in the development, test, and certification of liquid propulsion systems for NASA’s engine development programs at the Marshall Space Flight Center. You’ll become part of a multi-discipline team with the charter to establish flight rationale for America’s next generation of manned launch vehicles.

Essential Duties:

• Engage with senior engineers to provide insight on liquid engine structural elements and test fixtures, as well as producing independent analytical assessments.

• Develop and deliver reports and presentations, as well as collaborate with vendors and personnel from other NASA centers in the development of integrated flight hardware and associated ground test equipment.

• Assist with mentoring of junior engineers.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

• BS from an ABET accredited institution in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering, or Engineering Mechanics and a minimum of 15 years of experience.

· Familiarity with one or more major commercial finite element code such as ANSYS, ABAQUS, or NASTRAN is required.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as PowerPoint, Excel, and Word is required.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• MS degree from an ABET accredited institution in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering, or Engineering Mechanics.

• Experience in the application of finite element methods, empirical closed-form structural analysis techniques, and the assessment of failure mechanisms is highly desired.
