Med/Surg RN Job Details – Albuquerque, New Mexico

• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1580 - $1620
• Assignment Type: Locum tenens, travel nursing contract
• Location: Albuquerque, NM 87109 (New Mexico healthcare jobs)
• Start Date: August 25, 2025
• End Date: November 24, 2025
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: Day shifts, 12 hours (07:00 - 19:30)
• Hours per Week: 36 or 48 hours available
• Patient Ratio: 1:6
• Unit: Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg), 30 beds, daily census ~24
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend required
• Float: Required within Med/Surg and similar units
• Charting System: Epic EMR

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active New Mexico or Compact RN license (required at time of application)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg Registered Nurse experience
• BLS certification (American Heart Association preferred)
• Proficiency with Epic charting system
• Ability to float to similar medical-surgical units as needed
• Strong clinical skills: IV starts, wound care, telemetry monitoring, blood product administration, central line and PICC management, post-surgical care
• First-time travel nurses welcome
• Must be able to work every other weekend
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a busy Med/Surg unit
• Manage a patient load of up to 6 patients per shift
• Administer medications, monitor vital signs, and perform comprehensive assessments
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and social services
• Document all care and interventions accurately in Epic EMR
• Float to similar medical-surgical units within scope as required
• Participate in rapid response and code blue situations as needed
• Provide patient and family education and support throughout the care process
