Job Type: Full-Time
Location: Huntsville, AL (Occasional travel to satellite locations)
Work Setting: Histology & Mohs Laboratory
Schedule:

• Monday - Friday

• 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM

• Flexible scheduling available

1. No routine weekends, holidays, or on-call responsibilities

2. Occasional after-hours issues may arise due to supervisory responsibilities

Summary

We are seeking an experienced Histology Laboratory Supervisor to lead the daily operations of our Histology and Mohs Laboratory in Huntsville, AL. The Laboratory Supervisor will oversee histology operations, mentor laboratory staff, maintain quality assurance programs, and collaborate with physicians to ensure efficient, high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the daily operations of the Histology and Mohs Laboratory.

• Oversee processing of approximately 40-70 H&E specimens daily.

• Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, OSHA, and all applicable regulatory standards.

• Maintain laboratory quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) programs.

• Supervise, train, mentor, and evaluate Histotechnologists and Mohs Technicians.

• Develop, implement, and maintain laboratory policies and procedures.

• Perform and oversee routine histology procedures, including:

  • Embedding

  • Microtomy

  • H&E staining

  • Frozen sections, as needed

• Learn and oversee Mohs frozen section preparation if not previously experienced.

Qualifications

Required

• HT or HTL (ASCP) certification preferred.

• Previous laboratory supervisory or leadership experience.

• Strong hands-on experience processing dermatopathology specimens.

• Experience performing routine histology procedures.

• Ability to work independently and manage laboratory operations.

• Willingness to travel occasionally to satellite clinics.

Preferred

• Mohs laboratory experience.

• Frozen section experience.

• Experience supervising Mohs laboratory operations.

• Strong knowledge of CLIA regulations and laboratory compliance.

• Experience with dermatology specimens and laboratory quality management.
