Job Title: Entry-Level Staff Accountant – Accounts Payable & Procurement

Job Location: Huntsville, AL

Job Summary

We are a small, government contractor in Huntsville, AL seeking a motivated Entry-Level Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Accounting graduate (or soon-to-graduate) to gain hands-on experience in accounts payable, procurement, and Deltek Costpoint in a supportive, project-based environment.

We will provide full training on Costpoint and government contracting requirements. Candidates with Accounts Payable or Purchasing experience are also encouraged to apply — we value practical skills and a strong willingness to learn.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable

• Review, verify, and process vendor invoices with three-way matching
• Code and enter invoices accurately in Deltek Costpoint (project, account, indirect pools)
• Prepare and execute weekly payments (ACH, checks, wires)
• Resolve vendor inquiries and discrepancies
• Process employee expense reports and reconcile corporate credit cards
• Assist with monthly reconciliations of accounts
• Support monthly accounting close and assist with customer invoicing

Procurement Duties

• Solicit competitive quotes from vendors
• Create and issue purchase orders in Costpoint
• Track orders, coordinate with project managers and engineers
• Maintain complete, audit-ready documentation

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (recent graduates strongly encouraged) or four years experience in accounts payable and procurement in lieu of a degree.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer skills
• Good written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Skills

• Any prior Accounts Payable, Purchasing, bookkeeping, or internship experience
• Familiarity with government contracting (FAR, DCAA) — not required, we will train
• Exposure to Deltek Costpoint or similar ERP systems (full training provided)
