Description

Essential Job Functions and Major Tasks:

• Sets up and runs beam line equipment including robot, plasma and automatic blaster. Understands each machine's operation such as feed rates and three-dimensional models for programming to obtain required productivity and cosmetic standard for parts produced.
• Knowledge of difference in operation and adjustments needed in cutting one alloy and gauge of material versus another.
• Uses knowledge of difference in operation and adjustments needed in cutting one alloy and gauge of material versus another.
• Performs routine and regular maintenance for robot, plasma cutter and abrasive blaster. Includes machine operation diagnostic and trouble shooting.
• Downloads program and nesting as required
• Verifies measurement of cut material
• Accurately counts parts as needed.
• Uses forklift to transfer material
• Moves material to next operation or storage area using overhead crane.
• Operates pencil grinders, disk grinders, cutoff wheels, hand drills, drill presses as needed.
• Ensures safe working practices are followed and a top priority.
• Performs work within acceptable quality and productivity standards
• Uses basic measuring equipment such as tape measure, calipers, steel rules, etc. Verifies position of metal components in assembly, using straightedge, combination square, calipers, tape measure and rule.
• Applies a basic understanding of blueprints and tolerances that relate to assigned tasks.
• Maintains work area in a neat and organized manner. Keeps work area organized and as clean as possible while working and clean up all tooling, machinery and work area when finished with each job.
• Notifies direct supervisor of any equipment or tooling that is damaged or not working properly.
• Maintains accurate records of time and quantities, etc. If you know of incorrect time or quantity in folder, notify supervisor so it can be corrected.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

• Continuous carrying of parts under 10 pounds
• Continuous standing on a concrete floor
• Continuous use of near vision while operating and checking parts
• Continuous fine finger movements on computer, crane remote and writing
• Continuous pushing of carts and rollers
• Frequent lifting and carrying of parts under 20 pounds
• Frequent handling and gripping of parts and tools
• Frequent reaching above and below shoulder
• Frequent walking
• Occasional pulling of carts and rollers
• Occasional reading and writing
• Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds
• Work environment can be hot and humid in the summer with continuous manufacturing noise and dust
• PPE required for position includes safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, and gloves and other PPE as needed

Minimum Qualifications and Prerequisites:

Education and Experience:

One (1) year of manufacturing or machine operating experience

Some experience with the properties of ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

Some maintenance and troubleshooting experience.

Blueprint reading experience preferred

Skills and Abilities:

Working knowledge of the practices, materials, methods, and metalworking and hand tools.

Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precaution metal cutting.

Skill in blueprint reading and keyboarding

Skill in the use and care of tools and equipment.

Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Good oral and written communications skills (English).

Strong attention to detail skills

Overhead crane experience preferred (on the job training is provided)

Certificates, Licenses, Training, or Other Job-Related Requirements:

No current lifting restrictions prohibiting lifting up to 50 pounds
