This organization plays a critical role in ensuring buildings operate efficiently, safely, and reliably through modern automation and control systems.
They are seeking a hands-on Controls Technician who thrives in field environments and takes pride in diagnosing, commissioning, and optimizing automation systems that directly impact facility performance. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, working independently, and seeing projects through from installation to successful system operation.
This is not an entry-level electrical position. Candidates must have direct exposure to building automation, controls, or HVAC automation systems and demonstrate a stable, reliable work history.
Key Responsibilities

-
Perform startup and commissioning activities to confirm proper system performance and integration.
-
Verify point-to-point wiring, controller functionality, and communication between system components.
-
Ensure automation systems are operating according to design intent and customer requirements.
Troubleshooting & Service
-
Diagnose and resolve system issues involving wiring, controllers, network communication, or control logic.
-
Identify root causes of system malfunctions and implement effective corrective actions.
-
Perform preventative maintenance and system performance checks.
Field Operations & Documentation

Work independently across customer sites throughout the Mobile Bay region.
-
Document system changes, troubleshooting findings, and service activities clearly and accurately.
-
Maintain professional customer interactions while representing the organization in the field.
Required Qualifications (Strictly Required)

Strong working knowledge of low-voltage wiring, control panels, and field devices.
-
Proven troubleshooting and commissioning experience in real-world field environments.
-
Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, and control drawings.
-
Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally to customer sites.
-
Stable employment history demonstrating reliability and professional consistency.
Preferred Qualifications (Strongly Emphasized)
Standout candidates will possess:
-
Experience with BACnet, Modbus, or other automation communication protocols.

-
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in field environments.
-
Mechanical and HVAC system knowledge related to automation control.
Ideal Candidate

They take ownership of their work, communicate clearly, and demonstrate strong problem-solving ability in real-world environments. This individual values stability, professionalism, and long-term career growth within the building automation industry.
