Stevedoring Manager

Genesis Industrial is seeking a dedicated and experienced Stevedoring Managerfor an opportunity in Mobile, AL and Pascagoula, MS. The Stevedoring Manager will oversee cargo loading and unloading operations at the port terminal. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing labor crews, ensuring safety compliance, and maintaining efficient workflows to support maritime logistics. This is a leadership role requiring excellent communication, coordination, and operational management skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise stevedoring operations for vessels, including loading, unloading, and securing cargo
  • Manage and schedule longshore labor in accordance with union rules and operational needs
  • Monitor productivity, labor performance, and turnaround times to ensure operational efficiency
  • Ensure compliance with all safety standards, OSHA regulations, and company policies
  • Communicate with vessel agents, shipping lines, terminal operators, and logistics partners
  • Identify and resolve operational issues quickly to prevent delays or damage
  • Maintain accurate records of cargo handling, incident reports, and labor usage
  • Participate in planning meetings and coordinate with port authorities and stakeholders
  • Train and develop team members to ensure high performance and adherence to protocols

Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of experience in stevedoring, terminal operations, or maritime logistics
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Working knowledge of cargo handling equipment and procedures
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Familiarity with port regulations, safety requirements, and union environments
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, or irregular hours as needed
