Greater Brimingham Habitat for Humanity is seeking its next President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead an organization that partners with low-income individuals and families to provide safe, decent, and affordable home ownership. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the strategic vision of Greater Birmingham Habitat for Humanity. The President & CEO will possess a commitment to affordable housing & social impact, a capacity to navigate challenges, manage change and remain mission focused, and the ability to engage with diverse communities and foster an internal and external culture based on the core values of: Teamwork, Integrity and Mission Focus. They will be responsible for organizational performance, financial sustainability, community impact, and operational excellence.

GENERAL JOB EXPECTATIONS:
Working in coordination with the Board of Directors, develops, implements and sustains systems and procedures necessary to manage the overall operations of the organization. Serves as the primary public contact for the organization, representing the organization at the local, state, regional and national levels.

Board of Directors Governance
* Leads development and execution of the organization’s strategic plan
* Provides nominations for prospective board members to the nominating committee of the Board of Directors
* Works with the chairperson of the board in coordinating any new board member’s orientation
* Arranges training opportunities for board members and volunteers
* Serves as the representative of the organization on all board committees
* Coordinates work of staff for committee projects and board meetings, including data-driven reporting on performance metrics and outcomes
* Assists financial committee in development of organization’s annual budget
* Assists the chairperson of the board in preparation of the agenda for board meetings
* Supports board governance best practices and board development

Fundraising and Public Relations
* Serves as chief ambassador and head fundraiser for the organization, assisting the development department in continually discovering new funding opportunities
* Cultivates and maintains relationships with major donors, foundations, corporate partners, faith communities, and civic leaders
* Maintains a good relationship with local, state, regional and national Habitat for Humanity organizations
* Works with the Development team to drive revenue growth and diversification
* Strengthens brand visibility and community impact, serving as the principle spokesperson for the organization in the community
* Ensures stewardship of all funds is in alignment with the organization’s mission and vision

General Administration
* Responsible for public accountability of the organization and providing regular reporting to the board
* Authorizes expenditures within the budget provided by the board and advise the board and finance department of budget problems and future needs
* Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations
* Oversees risk management and expansion of the organization’s physical facilities
* Assures adequate filing system and proper record retention is maintained
* Supervises and directs management team in performance of their duties
* Ensures effective organizational structure and staff accountability
* Promotes a positive, mission-driven workplace culture
* Ensures all organizational policies are followed and updated as needed

Other duties may be assigned as necessitated.

QUALIFICATIONS:
* Strategic and mission-driven leader
* Proven success in nonprofit fundraising and revenue growth
* Strong financial and operational management skills
* Demonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams
* Skilled communicator with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders
* High integrity and sound judgment
* Proficient in modern business and donor management systems
* Experience working with a governing board
* Experience in affordable housing, community development, or related field (preferred)
* Ability to pass a criminal background and sex offender registry check
* Education and Experience:
* A minimum of ten years of leadership, management or supervisory experience
* Bachelor’s Degree in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field required; Master’s Degree preferred

* The salary shall be commensurate with experience.
