Command and Data Handling Engineer (Must be US Citizen)

This position provides engineering support to the design, development, and testing of a Command and Data Handling (C&DH) system for a rocket that is the cornerstone of an exciting space program in the new era of human exploration beyond Earth’s orbit. C&DH focuses on the development and integration of flight computers and data routers that control the flow of commands and telemetry throughout the rocket avionics system. Responsibilities of this position can include supporting component (e.g., flight computer) testing, conducting system analyses, analyzing test and vendor data, verifying requirements, coordinating with component vendors and the NASA customer, writing reports, and resolving issues. The candidate will work with other C&DH engineers to develop the system and ensure the design meets requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Computer Science or related field
• Minimum three years of experience with aerospace avionics, such as flight computers and data routers
• Ability to obtain a DoD secret clearance
• Must be a U.S. citizen

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of data exchange protocols, such as MIL-STD-1553, RS-422, and Ethernet
• An understanding of the internal operations of computers and routers
• Ability to write scripts in Python and/or MATLAB
• Experience with the systems engineering and integration process, from requirements development through product deployment
• Active DoD secret clearance
