Position Description:
Outpost Technologies is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Quality Specialist to support and enhance our Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with AS9100 standards and customer requirements. This role is essential to ensuring product integrity, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across our aerospace and defense programs.
The Quality Specialist will provide administrative, documentation, and coordination support for quality assurance activities, working closely with engineering, manufacturing, and program teams to ensure consistent adherence to quality processes. This position is based in Huntsville, AL.

The posted compensation reflects the anticipated salary range for this position. Actual pay will be determined by a variety of factors including experience, education, certifications, and alignment with internal compensation structures specific to government contracting requirements.
Position Responsibilities:
- Support the maintenance and continuous improvement of the corporate Quality Management System (QMS), including policies, procedures, and controlled documentation.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements to verify product conformance.
- Document inspection results and maintain accurate records of quality activities, including nonconformance reports (NCRs), corrective actions, and quality documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify root causes, resolve quality issues, and implement preventive actions.
- Assist in conducting internal audits to ensure compliance with AS9100 standards and internal procedures.
- Maintain and update quality procedures and work instructions.
- Support external audits conducted by customers, regulatory agencies, and certification bodies.
- Maintain quality records and documentation to support independent oversight of critical activities.
- Review quality reports and documentation for accuracy and completeness prior to submission to the Quality Manager.
- Promote a culture of quality and accountability, including stopping work when necessary to address quality concerns and coordinating appropriate corrective actions.
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- Familiarity with QMS concepts, including basic knowledge of ISO 9001 or AS9100.
- Understanding of documentation control, nonconformance management, and corrective action processes.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies and documentation errors.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to raise and address quality concerns proactively, including stopping work when necessary.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn quality management or inspection software.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associates degree in quality assurance, engineering, manufacturing, or a related technical field.
- Experience in quality assurance, quality control, or oversight role, preferably within aerospace or defense.
- Experience using inspection and measurement equipment, such as CMMs, calipers, and micrometers.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T.
- Working knowledge of AS9100 quality management system requirements.
- Familiarity with AS9102 First Article Inspection (FAI) requirements.
- Experience working in a regulated industry, such as aerospace or defense.
