Survey Crew Chief

Genesis is seeking a Survey Crew Chief for a full time position in Spanish Fort, AL.

Overview

As a Survey Crew Chief, you will lead field survey crews on a variety of projects including boundary surveys, topographic mapping, ALTA surveys, and construction staking. You’ll be responsible for field data collection, on-site decision-making, and ensuring accurate and efficient workflow in collaboration with office and engineering teams.


Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage field operations for a variety of surveying tasks
  • Perform courthouse research and interpret legal documents and plats
  • Collect data using GPS units and total stations (Topcon experience preferred)
  • Conduct field calculations, maintain field notes and sketches
  • Represent the company professionally during client site visits
  • Coordinate with office staff to ensure data accuracy and timely project completion
  • Maintain survey equipment, field vehicle, and manage expense reporting


Qualifications

  • 2–4+ years of experience as a Party Chief
  • Strong background in construction staking and heavy construction survey workflows
  • Proficient with GPS and total station data collection
  • Experience using Topcon Magnet software is a plus
  • Knowledge of ALTA, boundary, and topographic surveys
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills
  • Valid driver’s license required


Preferred Qualifications

  • Heavy construction survey experience is require
  • Familiarity with civil construction plans and job site protocols
  • Ability to train and mentor junior field staff
