Manufacturing Engineering Manager

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager at HYCO Alabama is responsible for the development and implementation of manufacturing processes and for analyzing manufacturing processes, designing new systems, and assessing the feasibility of these new methods. They will work closely with design engineers, production staff, and other stakeholders to ensure that the manufacturing process aligns with both business and production goals.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement manufacturing processes to maintain efficiency, reduce costs, improve sustainability and maximize profitability
  • Manage and lead the manufacturing engineering team to execute projects in an efficient manner
  • Ensure the smooth operation of the manufacturing process by developing and implementing efficient procedures and standards
  • Analyze and design lean manufacturing cells using effective systems and simulation tools
  • Manage the estimation of production costs, effectivity and efficiency
  • Oversee the maintenance, repair, and replacement of production and facility equipment and machinery
  • Implement strategies to improve quality and productivity
  • Coordinate with design engineering and manufacturing teams on product launch activities
  • Ensure compliance with industry safety and design standards and guidelines
  • Develop operational budgets and control costs within budget
  • Keep up with current manufacturing technologies and systems to improve processes
  • Prepare and present manufacturing reports to senior management
  • Identify and implement process improvements and production enhancements
  • Ensure safety procedures are followed at all times

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in manufacturing processes, systems, and technology to ensure efficient and quality production
  • Strong leadership skills to guide and manage a team of engineers, maintain a productive work environment, and foster professional growth
  • Ability to manage budgets and resources, and a thorough understanding of manufacturing systems and processes
  • Excellent project management skills to oversee projects from concept to completion, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget
  • Proficient problem-solving skills to address any issues that may arise during the manufacturing process and implement effective solutions
  • Exceptional communication skills to clearly convey information and expectations to team members, senior management, and other departments
  • Highly adept at strategic planning and decision making to set achievable goals and plan future needs of the manufacturing department
  • Ability to perform financial analysis and budgeting, understanding the financial implications of decisions and actions
  • Strong understanding of industry standards, safety regulations, and quality control to ensure that the manufacturing process aligns with all necessary requirements
  • Level of technical aptitude to understand and use relevant software (such as AutoCad or Visio) and technology in the manufacturing process.
  • Understanding of tooling applications, making improvements that result in reduced machine cycle times and products that meet required quality specifications
  • Ability to communicate well with operators, supervisors, and all levels of management

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing or related field
  • A minimum of five years of engineering experience in a manufacturing setting including two years of experience in project management, team leadership, and strategic planning
  • Experience in applying Lean Manufacturing principles and value stream mapping with an understanding of standard work in performing time studies to measure process improvement
  • Proficient at developing plant layouts for efficient flow of production
  • Able to meet established deadlines
  • Strong organizational and planning skills are a must
  • Must be familiar with drawing systems such as AutoCad or Visio
  • Experience with CAD software and data analysis tools
  • Excellent knowledge of manufacturing best practices and current industry standards
  • Strong leadership and project management abilities
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Attention to detail and the ability to multitask
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
