Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) Operator to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for precise measurement and quality control of manufactured parts using advanced CMM equipment. This role requires strong mechanical knowledge, familiarity with manufacturing processes, and proficiency with various precision measuring instruments. The CMM Operator will play a critical role in ensuring product quality aligns with engineering specifications and industry standards, supporting continuous improvement within our manufacturing facility.
Duties
- Operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to inspect and verify dimensions of machined parts and assemblies.
- Program and set up CMM equipment using CAD, GD&T, CAM programming, and CNC programming techniques.
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and engineering specifications to ensure accurate measurements.
- Utilize tools such as calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments for manual inspections when necessary.
- Collaborate with machining, fabrication, and assembly teams to resolve measurement discrepancies and improve quality processes.
- Maintain detailed inspection reports and documentation for quality assurance records.
- Perform routine calibration and maintenance of CMM equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Support manufacturing operations involving CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, stamping presses, press brake machines, and other fabrication tools as needed.
- Assist in materials handling, tooling setup, and assembly line support to facilitate efficient production workflows.
- Adhere to safety protocols within the manufacturing environment while working with hand tools, forklifts, and other factory equipment.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating Coordinate Measuring Machines in a manufacturing or factory setting.
- Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, GD&T principles, and precision measurement techniques.
- Familiarity with CNC programming (Fanuc, CAM programming), CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, stamping presses, press brake machines, and fabrication tools.
- Mechanical aptitude with understanding of tooling, materials handling, welding, assembly processes, and machining operations.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks; experience with CAD design is a plus.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately.
- Experience with quality control procedures using calipers, micrometers, and other precision instruments.
- Basic math skills necessary for measurement calculations and troubleshooting.
- Warehouse experience or familiarity with factory environments is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail combined with excellent problem-solving skills to ensure high-quality standards are maintained across all products.
