Controller - Job Code: KHS
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Controller to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial management and accounting, with a focus on ensuring compliance with IFRS standards. As the Controller, you will play a crucial role in overseeing financial operations, maintaining accurate financial records, and providing insightful financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
Supervisory Responsibilities:- Oversees the operations of the Accounting Department, which include accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and payroll.
- Oversees training programs and identifies training needs.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
- Performing daily, monthly, quarterly and annual accounting activities.
- Processing bank reconciliations for several medical practices.
- Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting.
- Oversees the production of periodic internal and external financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Providing management with information vital to the decision-making process.
- Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes.
- Evaluating accounting and internal control systems.
- Evaluating the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting database, as needed.
- Developing and monitoring business performance metrics.
- Overseeing regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance.
- Assist with Federal and State tax returns.
- Process Consumer Use Sales Tax monthly.
- Initiate and oversee annual business license and property tax process.
- Hiring, training and retaining skilled accounting staff.
- Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure the company’s performance.
- Produces the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management.
- Provides financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
- Works with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit.
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
- Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
- Support month-end and year-end close process.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent management and supervisory skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proficient in accounting and tax preparation software.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
- Ten years or more of related experience required.
- Master's Degree, Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Able to travel as needed.
