Waypoint’s client is seeking an MDS Architecture Engineer to support the Missile Defense Agency’s Advanced Architectures Design (MDA/CAD) office in defining the future of Missile Defense System (MDS) Regional Architectures. This role contributes directly to the development, analysis, and communication of joint architectures to counter ballistic, hypersonic, and cruise missile threats, protecting both Warfighters and allies.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and coordinate comprehensive regional missile defense Courses of Action (COAs) to defeat evolving threats.
• Prepare and deliver briefings, white papers, and technical data in support of Architecture Requirements Packages (ARPs).
• Identify and prioritize missile defense architecture gaps, challenges, and system mitigations.
• Build and assess Blue Force and Red Force laydowns, as well as intel-informed raid scenarios using pacing threats.
• Develop Measures of Effectiveness (MOEs) and architecture needs statements; coordinate iterative analysis on future architectures.
• Analyze and document performance of architecture options and concepts in various operational scenarios.
• Support requirements development and acquisition activities for new capabilities and prototypes.
• Collaborate with stakeholders through working groups and Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs) to address architecture needs, future concepts, and data exchange.
• Provide senior-level briefings and technical memorandums to government leadership, including regular input on status reports, risks, and schedules.
• Plan and execute projects with MDA offices, prime contractors, and FFRDC/UARC partners.
• Evaluate technology enablers and future architecture elements that strengthen defense against ballistic, hypersonic, and cruise missile threats.

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline.
• Minimum of 7+ years supporting missile defense or other complex, large-scale DoD programs.
• Active Secret clearance.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to work independently and/or lead teams in analyzing and resolving technical problems.

Desired:

• Working knowledge of MDS components, architectures, and operational concepts.
• Familiarity with MDA programs and/or complex MDS elements.
• Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Digital Engineering strategies.
• Military operational experience.
• Ability to decompose complex problems into actionable tasks and coordinate solutions across multiple organizations.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to present complex technical information to senior leadership.
• TS/SCI clearance eligibility.
• Preferred military experience, such as:
  • Navy: Aegis Weapon System EDO or Joint Interface Control Officer.
  • Army/Air Force: Experience with MDS elements such as THAAD, LTAMDS, Sentinel, PATRIOT, or GMD.
