We are currently hiring for a Steward Supervisor , a vital role within our culinary operations team. This position offers the opportunity to lead behind the scenes, ensuring our kitchen and dining support areas operate at the highest standards of cleanliness, organization, and efficiency-helping us deliver a seamless and memorable guest experience.
Job Summary:
The Steward Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and participating in the daily operations of the stewarding team to ensure all kitchen work areas, equipment, utensils, and the employee dining room are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation. This hands-on leadership role supports back-of-house efficiency, enforces health and safety protocols, and ensures a clean and organized environment that enables smooth culinary operations.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Responsible for supervising and directing utility stewards and dishwashers.
- Schedule staff consistent with the volume of business and service needs.
- Supervise, direct, and train staff.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for establishing and maintaining high sanitation standards in all food preparation areas.
- Responsible for the Maintenance and cleanliness of all F&B service and Kitchen Equipment.
- Service ware in order to provide cooks, bus persons, and food servers with appropriate equipment for the guest dining experience. It also requires cleaning of physical surroundings.
- Responsible for achieving financial goals by minimizing costs without compromising the cleanliness condition of the Kitchen.
- Responsible for implementing the Policies and Procedures in operating the Stewarding Department.
- Responsible for ensuring sufficient operating equipment and cleaning supplies for the operation, including the Employee Dining Room.
- Ensuring the Stewarding Department is covered with staff during operation.
- Responsible for administration and the disposal of waste.
- Monitors budget via chemical costs, weekly and monthly.
- Prepare all Chemical requests for the Stewarding Department.
- Represent the hotel, act in a professional manner, and ensure proper representation of the Hotel.
- Ensure proper set up for all banquet functions on his/her shift.
- Ensure that all food and equipment on menus are delivered on time to all functions.
- Ensure that utility stewards maintain the areas in which the functions are taking place.
- Ensure that all dirty China glasses and silver are returned to the dishwashing area as soon as possible.
- Ensure that all functions are set up and ready for the next shift.
- To own and ensure the cleanliness of the restaurant, banquets, employee dining room, and kitchens.
- Account for all inventory of Big Four - maintain par levels to account for breakage or loss.
- Ensure all used utensils, props, and equipment are returned to their designated area after the event or day is over.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage people in all situations.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Previous Stewarding Supervisory experience preferred.
- Preferred HACCP trained.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of walking, standing, and sitting.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
