Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) Job Duties

• Assist Speech-Language Pathologists in implementing therapy plans for students with speech and language disorders

• Provide direct therapy services under the supervision of a licensed SLP

• Support students in achieving communication and language development goals

• Prepare therapy materials and maintain accurate records of student progress

• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and multidisciplinary teams to support student outcomes

• Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal special education regulations

Federal and State Requirements

• Associates or Bachelors degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders

• Current Alabama SLPA license or eligibility required

• Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, FERPA, and other applicable education laws

• Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills

• Fingerprinting and background clearance as required by Alabama school districts
