Crane Climber

Grays Tree Service is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Crane Climber to operate various cranes, ensuring the safe and efficient lifting and moving of heavy materials. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, physical stamina, and experience in both operating and maintaining heavy equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Operate a variety of cranes to lift, move, and position heavy loads.
• Conduct daily pre-shift inspections of the crane and lifting equipment to ensure proper working order and identify any safety issues.
• Perform routine maintenance, such as cleaning and lubricating, and make minor repairs as needed.
• Read and interpret load charts and blueprints to determine the correct configuration for each lift.
• Communicate clearly with ground crews, riggers, and supervisors via radio or other signals to ensure safe and coordinated lifting operations.
• Identify and address potential hazards on the job site, including ground stability and overhead obstructions.
• Maintain accurate records of crane operations, maintenance, and repairs.
• Safely climb cranes, sometimes to significant heights, while using proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and fall protection. 

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid crane operator certification (e.g., NCCCO).
• Minimum of 2 years of experience operating cranes in a construction environment.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50-60 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks, including climbing, squatting, and bending.
• Proficiency in reading and understanding load charts, blueprints, and other construction documents.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions.
• Willingness to undergo pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and random testing.
