Teacher of Visually Impaired in Huntsville, AL
An opportunity is available for a skilled Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) to support K-12 students in Huntsville, AL. This part-time, on-site position offers 19 hours per week during the school year on a contract basis. The teacher will work with a mixed caseload, providing specialized instruction and resources to visually impaired students to promote their academic success and independence.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments
- Deliver direct instruction adapting curriculum to meet students unique needs
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and support staff to ensure inclusive learning environments
- Conduct assessments and monitor progress related to vision-related educational goals
- Provide orientation and mobility training as needed
- Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers regarding student progress and needs
Desired Qualifications:
- Certified Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) credential or equivalent
- Experience working with K-12 students who have visual impairments
- Ability to manage a mixed caseload and tailor services accordingly
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Knowledge of assistive technology and instructional strategies for visually impaired learners
