Become a part of something IMPACT\-ful\! Ground Missile Defense \(GMD\) is the heart of the Missile Defense System and a key element of our nation's defense against ballistic missile attacks\.
The GMD Weapon System \(GWS\) processes data from multiple sensors to identify and characterize the inbound ballistic missile threat, plans the best defensive solution, and launches the intercepting missiles to negate the threat\.
**The Work**
As a software developer on the GMD Weapon System \(GWS\) Fire Control \(GFC\) software team, you will be part of the team that writes the software \(currently ~1\.5million lines of code\) that controls the missile defense system that protects the US\. You will work in a collaborative environment to understand, implement, and test existing and new capabilities and algorithms and may participate in code modernization and translating Ada code to C\+\+\. Many of the algorithms and capabilities implemented by the GFC team are mathematics and physics based complex solutions that will be highly visible to the GWS customer, Missile Defense Agency \(MDA\)\. You will also be expected to support reviews of requirements and test cases that are developed in support of the GFC software team\.

**Basic Qualifications:**
\- Bachelor's degree in STEM related field along with 5 years related engineering experience
\- Demonstrated ability to develop Software in Ada or C\+\+or Java
\- Recent MATLAB and Python Experience
\- Unix/Linux Operating System Experience
\- Active Final Secret Clearance
**Desired Skills:**
\- Highly experienced with Linux, scripting, and operations
\- Experience with automated software requirements testing and analysis
\- Experience with the MDA GMD program\.
\- Experience with Agile Project Management tools \(Jira/Confluence\) and DevSecOps tools and methods \(Jenkins, Ansible, Git/Gitlab\) of continuous integration/continuous delivery and deployment \(CI/CD\) automation
\- Advanced degree in Mathematics or Physics
\- Willingness to become highly proficient with Ada software development
**Security Clearance Statement:** This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration\.

**Ability to Work Remotely:** Onsite Full\-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility\.
**Work Schedules:** Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees\. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed\. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits\.
**Schedule for this Position:** 9x80 every other Friday off
