Hypersonic Research Engineer – Experiment Data Analysis (Huntsville) (Summer 2026)
CFD Research is looking to fill our intern class for the Summer of 2026. Interns in this program will support research in their area of study and/or interest ranging from Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering and more. The program runs 8-10 weeks over the summer and has flexible start and finish dates based on candidate's availability (typically mid-May to August).
Each CFD Research Internship has both a mentor and technical manager to help guide them on their research project over the summer. In addition to challenging technical work, CFD Research's program offers professional development and social activities designed to help our interns have a great, all-around summer internship experience.
An intern in this role will support hypersonic experimental work by assisting in data analysis across various ground tests covering aerodynamic and material measurements. The primary focus will be on running analysis developed by the experimental team and automating that process where appropriate. Datasets will include transducer time series, high-speed images sequences, and material surface profiles. Candidates should be proficient with MATLAB or Python. Both undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to apply.

Requirements
Candidate should be a US Citizen and meet eligibility to work for any employer.
Student must be pursuing a degree (Graduate or Undergraduate) in a related discipline
Internship requires students to be available to work in Huntsville, AL for the summer
