In-Home Co-Therapist (Bachelor's level)
The In-Home Co-Therapist plays a vital role in supporting therapeutic interventions for high-risk youth experiencing serious emotional disturbances (SED). Working in collaboration with the In-Home Therapist, the Co-Therapist assists in implementing treatment plans, building therapeutic relationships, teaching adaptive skills, and fostering a safe and supportive home environment. This position focuses on collaboration, structure, and consistency to help youth and families achieve therapeutic goals in the least restrictive environment possible.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct initial clinical assessments and assist therapist in developing individualized treatment plans in partnership with the child and family.
- Deliver evidence-based individual and family interventions in the home or community, adapting interventions to the family’s environment and needs.
- Engage youth and caregivers in treatment using a strength-based, trauma-informed approach.
- Provide crisis support, de-escalation strategies, and safety planning when appropriate.
- Collaborate closely with care coordinators, schools, psychiatrists, child welfare workers, and other involved providers to ensure coordinated care.
- Provide psychoeducation and coaching to caregivers on behavior management, parenting skills, and communication.
- Monitor and document clinical progress and maintain all required documentation in a timely and compliant manner.
- Attend supervision, team meetings, and ongoing training to support clinical development and service quality.
- Support transitions to less intensive services and contribute to discharge planning.
- Participate in team meetings, supervision, and required training to support professional development and service fidelity.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all agency, state, and federal guidelines.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, human services, education, or related field (required).
- Minimum of one year of experience working with children or adolescents with SED or other high needs and their families (preferred).
- Familiarity with and ability to navigate and document within Electronic Health Records Systems.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to remain calm in crisis situations and respond with empathy and professionalism.
- Ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds and systems.
- Flexibility to travel and work in home, school, and community settings.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel regularly throughout the service area.
- CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
Work Environment & Schedule:
- This is a non-exempt, full-time position.
- Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM CST
- This position requires in-person work and is not eligible for remote or hybrid work arrangements.
- This position involves community-based work and requires the ability to meet clients in various settings, including homes and schools, which may not be fully accessible.
- The role includes periods of sitting, driving, and walking, and may occasionally require lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and motivational skills.
- Flexibility to work afternoon, evening, and occasional weekend hours based on program needs.
- Must pass background checks and obtain any required school clearances.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and the ability to travel within the community.
Transportation Requirements:
- Provide transportation for consumers as needed using agency or personal vehicles.
- Maintain a safe driving record and valid driver’s license with personal liability insurance.
- Follow all agency transportation policies, including seatbelt usage, safe cellphone practices, and vehicle documentation.
- Immediately report any vehicle issues, accidents, or violations to appropriate personnel.
In-Service Training & Continued Education Requirements:
- Participate in all required agency in-service and ADMH trainings
- Commitment to ongoing professional development to enhance skills and stay informed on best practices in behavioral health.
- Completion of onboarding and any continuing education requirements as directed by the agency or supervisor.
- Ongoing professional development to maintain best practices and compliance with evolving standards of care.
