FLSA: Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Job Type: Full-time, 40 hours per week. On-site with the ability to regularly travel to satellite clinics.

General Purpose of Job/Summary:
We welcome both experienced ophthalmic technicians and individuals eager to begin a career in eye care. As an ophthalmic technician, you will assist our physicians in delivering high-quality eye care by performing clinical tasks, conducting preliminary eye exams, and supporting diagnostic procedures. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide compassionate patient care while ensuring an efficient clinic flow (by triaging patients according to company guidelines).
- Conduct technical workups, take patient medical histories, and document data in the electronic medical records (EMR) system.
- Administer eye drops and medications under physician instruction.
- Prepare and sanitize equipment and examination rooms between patients; follow all practice policy standards for sanitation, sterile technique, and infection control.
- Assist physicians with laser procedures, minor surgeries, and examinations.
- Respond to phone calls concerning ocular emergencies, patient care questions, and prescriptions.
- Educate patients on follow-up care, procedures, and eyewear use.
- Communicate with patients regarding appointments, treatments, surgery scheduling.
- Perform or assist with specialized diagnostic tests and refractions.
- Support patient and physician needs by coordinating with multiple teams across clinic locations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be willing and able to regularly travel to satellite clinics.
- Strong willingness to learn and ability to adapt to a fast-paced medical environment,
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- For Experienced Technicians:
- At least two years of experience as an ophthalmic assistant.
- Preferred: Associate’s degree or higher; bilingual is a plus.

The role requires the ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds, as well as frequent walking, standing, bending, and climbing stairs/ladders during office inspections and maintenance activities. Regular travel to multiple office locations is also required. The work predominantly takes place in a fast-paced, climate-controlled medical office with moderate noise levels.
