About the Role:

The Fire Watch Guard plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of construction sites by actively monitoring for fire hazards and potential ignition sources. This position involves vigilant observation during high-risk activities such as welding, cutting, or other hot work operations to prevent fire incidents. The Fire Watch Guard is responsible for promptly identifying and responding to fire emergencies, coordinating with emergency services, and implementing fire prevention measures. This role requires a proactive approach to safety, maintaining clear communication with site personnel and management to uphold compliance with fire safety regulations. Ultimately, the Fire Watch Guard helps protect lives, property, and project continuity by minimizing fire risks on construction sites.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a recognized fire watch or fire safety training program.
• Basic knowledge of fire prevention and emergency response procedures.
• Ability to stand and remain alert for extended periods.
• Valid work authorization to operate in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience as a Fire Watch Guard or in a related safety role within the construction industry.
• Certification in CPR and First Aid.
• Familiarity with OSHA fire safety standards and local fire codes.
• Strong communication and observational skills.
• Ability to use fire detection and suppression equipment.

Responsibilities:

• Continuously monitor designated areas during and after hot work operations to detect and prevent fire hazards.
• Inspect fire protection equipment and ensure it is readily accessible and functional at all times.
• Maintain clear and accurate logs of fire watch activities, incidents, and safety checks.
• Communicate effectively with construction crews, supervisors, and emergency responders regarding fire safety concerns.
• Respond immediately to fire alarms or incidents, initiating evacuation procedures and coordinating with fire departments as necessary.

The Fire Watch Guard utilizes keen observational skills daily to identify potential fire hazards and ensure compliance with safety protocols. Effective communication skills are essential for coordinating with construction teams and emergency personnel to maintain a safe work environment.
