We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to join our client's team in Birmingham, Alabama, on a Contract to permanent basis. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with expertise in government and federal contracting, who can bring strong analytical skills and attention to detail to manage financial processes effectively. Responsibilities:
• Lead month-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial data.
• Oversee general ledger activities and maintain the integrity of accounting records.
• Prepare and review financial statements in compliance with auditing standards.
• Conduct account reconciliations to ensure all balances are accurate and properly documented.
• Manage journal entries, ensuring they are recorded correctly and align with organizational procedures.
• Utilize Cost Point and Cognos software to generate insightful financial reports.
• Monitor compliance with government contracting regulations and federal requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support financial planning and decision-making.
• Implement best practices in accounting operations to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• A minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in government or federal contracting.
• Knowledge of Cost Point and Cognos software preferred.
• Demonstrated proficiency in month-end closing and general ledger management.
• Hands-on experience with financial statement audits and compliance.
• Skilled in performing detailed account reconciliations and journal entry management.
• Ability to navigate complex regulatory requirements related to government contracts.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
