About the Position

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Special Education Teacher to provide specialized instruction and individualized support to students with disabilities. The ideal candidate will collaborate with educational teams and families to implement effective instructional strategies and ensure students receive appropriate services.

Job Duties

• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Provide specially designed instruction based on individual student needs
• Adapt curriculum, instructional materials, and assessments
• Monitor and document academic, behavioral, and developmental progress
• Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions
• Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, families, and related service providers
• Implement positive behavioral supports and classroom management strategies
• Provide accommodations and modifications in accordance with student IEPs
• Maintain accurate special education documentation
• Ensure compliance with IDEA and applicable Alabama special education requirements

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
• Valid Alabama teaching certificate with the appropriate Special Education certification/endorsement for the assigned population and grade level
• Completion of an Alabama-approved educator preparation program or an approved alternative certification pathway
• Successful completion of applicable Alabama certification assessments
• Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, and special education service delivery
• Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
• Ability to differentiate instruction for students with diverse learning needs
• Successful completion of required background screening and district onboarding requirements
