Product Manager
Our History:
The Storyteller Overland vibe started out as a drawing on a restaurant napkin in 2017 illustrating a desire to help people live more adventurous lives. Back then, very few had ever heard of an adventure van, and some at the restaurant table with CEO Jeffrey Hunter had doubts it would ever sell.
The company officially launched in 2018 with a humble yet confident team of seven employees. Over the next year, we worked on launching our MODE 4x4 and finding dealer partners to work with, and finally, the dream was turning into a reality.
We’ve been fortunate to be full speed ahead since then. We’ve added sister companies to our galaxy and built out quite the impressive team – hopefully you included. We hit 500 vans built, then 1,000, then so many more that these milestones became difficult to keep track of. We’ve added new vehicles to our lineup and have built a massive community of like-minded adventurers that also continues to grow.
As we reflect on our history, though, we remind ourselves that our best ideas are still ahead of us, not behind us. Here’s to saying yes to the next grand adventure!

Overview:
As the Product Manager, you will be a primary driver of product related results that will achieve key business objectives within Storyteller Overland. You will collaborate with key leaders to develop and lead the strategic product initiatives, which have substantial impact on business growth, stability, and profitability while being a team player and a superior brand ambassador of our reputation within our vibrant community of vanlifers, adventure seekers, and outdoor enthusiasts.
General Responsibilities including such things as:
- Oversee products from ideation through design, development, launch, and ongoing iteration,
- Define project objectives, deliverables, and success criteria in partnership with stakeholders for new product launches,
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and timelines to ensure successful delivery,
- Act as the central hub between engineering, design, marketing, sales, and customer success teams,
- Facilitate communication and decision-making to keep projects on track and aligned with strategy,
- Partner with leadership to shape and articulate the long-term vision, strategy, and roadmap for the product line,
- Conduct market research, customer interviews, and competitive analysis to identify opportunities and threats.
- Synthesize insights into actionable recommendations that influence product direction and positioning.
- Balance technical feasibility, business impact, and customer value to ensure the right trade-offs are made.
- Drive go-to-market strategies in collaboration with marketing and sales teams to ensure strong launches.
- Own the product backlog, continually refining priorities to focus on the highest-value opportunities.
- Define and monitor key product metrics (adoption, engagement, revenue, NPS, etc.).
- Use quantitative data and qualitative feedback to guide iteration and improve product performance.
- Serve as the voice of the product across the organization, ensuring all stakeholders are aligned on goals, progress, and priorities.
- Communicate updates clearly and frequently to leadership and teams, building transparency and trust.
Work Schedule:
- Flexible: Operating hours are generally 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. M - F
Work Location:
- Facility located in the Lakeshore Area (109 West Park Drive, 35211)
Qualifications/Skills:
- Proven project and time management skills with ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to monitor market trends and make recommendations on what new product launches should be on the product roadmap, and when.
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Detailed and process oriented.
- Practical leadership experience leading both formal and informal teams.
- Ability to create synergy amongst diverse workgroups and see projects through from concept to shelf.
- Understanding & application of lean process principles.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA preferred
- Engineering Degree preferred
- Product Development experience a plus
- Manufacturing experience a plus
- Project management experience a plus
- Six Sigma Certification a plus

- Position Mission: The Product Manager drives the strategy, roadmap, and execution of the product line, aligning cross-functional teams from Quality, Production, After Sales, Procurement, Design, Engineering, R&D, Sales, and Marketing to deliver on leadership’s vision. By fostering collaboration and innovation, this role ensures the creation of industry-leading products that delight customers, strengthen the brand, and accelerate growth.

Physical Requirements:
Candidates should be prepared for the following:
- Sitting: The majority of the workday will be spent sitting at a desk, using a computer, and performing tasks that require sustained attention and focus.
