General Summary:
The Sales Estimator is responsible for preparing and maintaining accurate cost estimates for service and parts. This role supports sales representatives and internal managers by reviewing construction drawings, blueprints, and renderings to determine materials needed for service work. The estimator prepares bills of material, obtains pricing from vendors, calculates labor requirements and enters all data into the company’s estimating system.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
- Prepares work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents from Outside Sales team.
- Identifies labor, material, and time requirements.
- Computes costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements.
- Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
- Presents prepared estimates by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information.
- Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Maintains cost database by entering and backing up data from Vendors.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Issue Purchase Orders for materials/parts to the vendor when proposals are approved.
- Communicates clearly with sales, service technicians and co-workers.
- Responsible for the completion of any special projects or the assignment of other duties as requested by management.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience in the industry.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction sales, field experience or project management.
- General knowledge of equipment terminology with an understanding of construction documents.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Proven customer service skills and the ability to resolve problems and prevent customer dissatisfaction while ensuring quality standards are met.
- Ability to prioritize, troubleshoot and coordinate multiple tasks while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Intermediate computer skills with proficiency with Microsoft Office Word, Outlook, Excel, etc. previous sophisticated ERP system experience preferred.
- Commitment to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers with a good sense of urgency.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be team-oriented, highly organized, detailed oriented and have successfully demonstrated the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Working Environment:
The work of this position is performed in a controlled office environment. This position requires the ability to work under pressure and communicate with a diverse population including other employees, customers, vendors, etc. This position also requires prolonged periods of sitting in a regular seated position as well as the use of general office equipment including phones, printers, computers, mouse, keyboard, etc.
