As a Commercial Kitchen & HVAC/R Field Service Specialist, you’ll support Chick-fil-A restaurants exclusively through a top-tier service network. You’ll work independently in the field, while a strong technical and operational team equips you with the tools, resources, and training to excel.
What a Typical Day Looks Like
Morning diagnostics on a reach-in cooler. Midday calibration of a grill. Afternoon troubleshooting on a rooftop unit. Throughout the day, you’ll coordinate with manufacturers for parts and technical insights and, when needed, consult directly with the Chick-fil-A Technical Assistance Team to deliver fast, reliable fixes.
Core Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, install, and remove commercial kitchen equipment.
- Service hot-side cooking equipment, refrigeration systems (including sealed systems), specialty foodservice equipment, and base-building HVAC systems.
- Meet Operator service requests within defined service level agreements.
- Work on equipment such as Henny Penny, Follett, Lennox (HVAC), Traulsen, Hobart mixers, Champion dishwashers, and Garland Grill.
- Collaborate with manufacturers for diagnostic support and parts identification; consult the Chick-fil-A Technical Assistance Team while onsite.
- Install ordered parts precisely and professionally.
- Document work thoroughly: work orders, time entries, receipts, and truck stock inventory.
- Keep your service vehicle, tools, and parts well organized.
- Support on-call emergency response during non-standard hours.
- Follow safe work practices and accident-prevention procedures.
- Pursue continuous OEM training and certifications.
- Engage productively with partners, suppliers, and vendors supporting the service network.
- Maintain productivity levels aligned with company standards.
What You Bring
- Technical trade school training and/or hands-on field experience.
- 5+ years of relevant trade experience (or equivalent).
- Training or proven experience in one or more areas: sealed refrigeration/HVAC systems, electrical systems, mechanical systems, process controls, hot-side cooking equipment, and/or mechanical power transmission.
- Background servicing kitchen equipment, facilities, or construction systems.
- EPA Universal Certification.
- Valid state driver’s license and proof of insurance.
- Safe driving record (MVR required) and ability to safely operate company vehicles.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and diagnostic capability; ability to read schematics and diagrams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and mobile service applications.
- Clear written and verbal communication; self-starter who excels independently with a positive, service-first approach.
Travel
- 100% travel within a defined local market.
- Limited overnight travel, primarily for onboarding and training.
Physical Demands
- Work extended periods during emergencies or priority events (including overtime).
- Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
- Climb ladders and stairs up to two stories (with ladder safety training). Note: Roof access ladders are provided; van loading/unloading of a large ladder is not typical.
- Frequent bending, twisting, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
- Extended standing and walking on even and uneven surfaces.
- Frequent use of arms, wrists, and hands to operate tools and machinery.
- Comfort working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
