What We Look For In a IB Chemistry Tutor

• Advanced Subject Mastery: Deep knowledge of IB Chemistry curriculum covering stoichiometry, atomic structure, periodicity, bonding, energetics, kinetics, equilibrium, acids and bases, redox, organic chemistry, and additional HL topics including advanced energetics and spectroscopy. Ability to explain IB-specific data booklet usage and internal assessment requirements while preparing students for IB Chemistry SL and HL examinations.
• Conceptual Teaching & Problem-Solving: Skilled at teaching quantitative problem-solving, data analysis, and experimental design for IB Chemistry. Guides students through stoichiometric calculations, equilibrium constant problems, organic reaction mechanisms, and data booklet navigation. Emphasizes connecting chemistry to the Nature of Science theme and develops skills for the Internal Assessment individual investigation and extended-response examination questions.
• Curriculum Awareness & Adaptive Instruction: Familiar with IB Chemistry syllabus for SL and HL and common challenges such as HL energetics calculations, spectroscopy interpretation, and meeting IA experimental requirements. Adapts instruction using past IB examination papers, mark scheme analysis, and data booklet practice to support IB students at both Standard and Higher Levels preparing for internal assessments and final examinations.
• Effective Teaching Methods: Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
• Ability to adapt to different learning styles and student needs.
